MynameisHarryLin.OnMay25,1958,IwaorninXinying,alittletowniouthernFujian.Myfatherisafarmer,plantingbananasandpineales,andmymothertakescareofthehouse.Ihavetwopothersandonesister.Thoughnotwell-to-do,myparentshavebeenabletoprovidethewholefamilywithsufficientmeatolivedecentlyandenjoyallmodernconveniences.　　Myearlyeducationwasreceivedinmyhometown,i.e.sixyearsirimaryschoolandthreeyearsinjuniormiddleschool.Aftercompletingnineyearsofformaleducationin1958.IwenttoXiamenandparticipatedinthejointentranceexaminationforfive-yearjuniorcolleges.Fortunately,IwasadmittedtotheDepartmentofElectricalEngineeringatXiamenJuniorEngineeringCollege.IchoseElectricalEngineeringasmymajorbecause,ontheonehand,IlikedPhysicsverymuch;andontheotherhand,electricalindustryisamajorsectoroftheeconomyofChina.

　　ThefiveyearsofinteivetrainingcametoanendinJune1978whenIreceivedadiploma.AndinJuly1980.IwashiredbyNanYaplasticCompanyandhaveservedasajuniorelectricalengineeratthecompanytothepresent.Ienjoytheworkandfeelcompetentforthejob.

　　Inworking,however,I"veFoundthatwhatIhavelearnedichoolislimitedandfarfromsufficienttohandlesophisticatedjo.Therefore,IhavedecidedtoextendmyeducationandwouldliketoenteranAmericanititutionfirstlytoearnaBachelor"sdegreeinElectricalEngineering.Then,ifpoible,IwouldliketocontinuemyeducationtowardaMaster"sdegree.

　　Afterthisobjectiveisreached,Iwillreturntomycountryandseekajobinapublicfirm.MostprobablyIwillcontinuetoworkwithNanYaPlasticCompany.
